Hi, I'm Kelly.

I live in NYC with my wife and our 2 dogs. I talk about them a lot. I also talk about food, tv, LGBT rights, and my attempts to live a healthier lifestyle.

If running, recipes, gifs and gay rights aren't your thing, feel free to move along. It's a big internet and there's room for all of us.

Last night while getting ready for bed I stared to get myself worked up about going to the gym in the morning. I hadn’t been since Thursday and was absolutely dreading it. I had convinced myself that my destiny is to be fat and lazy instead of healthy and active.

My wife, knowing me better than anyone, figures out what’s wrong and launches into the greatest pep talk the world has ever heard. She was like an old-timey college football coach. Suddenly we were in black and white, she had a fedora on her head and a half chewed cigar in her mouth.

She told me to get my head outta my ass. That I am the only one standing in my way and I’m the only one who can change that. She reminded me that I really am happier on days I work out and that I was just being a big baby. She of course said all this in a loving manner

And she’s right. I hold myself back when I’m running. I stop myself from going to a class or doing another set of anything. I still haven’t wrapped my head around the fact that I am capable of more. Good thing I have my wife who won’t let me give up.

Today I did intervals of 2 minutes running and 1 minute walking and ended up breaking the 2 mile mark which is a first for me.
